Milepost 5 is an intentional community centered around creative individuals engaged in creative pursuits. This campus of this unique Community for Creatives is located in the Montavilla Neighborhood of Portland, Oregon.

The first phase of the project, The Lofts, opened its doors in mid 2008. The majority of its 54 units are occupied by a burgeoning community of talented individuals skilled in a diverse range of creative disciplines. [There are units currently available] The second phase, The Studios, is scheduled to begin pre-leasing soon for completion in 2010.

Milepost 5, The Studios, will provide up to 102 affordable work and live/work rentals to creatives, plus 17,000 square feet of gallery, performance, commercial, restaurant/café, and community space.

Milepost 5 is located at 900 NE 81st Avenue, Portland, OR 97213. The campus is on NE 82nd Avenue and Oregon, 3 blocks north of NE Glisan and 3 blocks south of I-84. Google Map

The project was initially co-conceived by Beam Development, the Portland Affordable Housing Preservation Trust, and then City Commissioner (now Mayor) Sam Adams. The conception and creation of the Milepost 5 project is well told by ShowcasePDX in their video project biography.
