Milepost 5 kitchen / restaurant / perfomance space

The restaurant space, contiguous with but not necessarily under the same umbrella as the performance space, is located in Phase II of the Milepost 5 project. Phase I, the lofts, is a community of 54 owned live/work spaces in an extensively refurbished 1945 modern structure. Phase I is immediately adjacent to the Phase II building, a sprawling 1915 brick w/ slate roof structure that, once refurbished, will house up to 69 rental work studios and live/work spaces, an art gallery, performance space, and restaurant; as well as other commercial and community spaces possibly including shared wood shop, ceramics facilities, rehearsal spaces and more. The Phase II program is still in development.

The restaurant is seen as an integral part of the community, potentially serving the up-to-approx-200 individuals who live at, work at, or regularly use the facility as well as patrons who are coming to Milepost 5 for exhibitions, performances, classes, and special events. In addition to the owners / renters / regulars and the visiting crowd, the restaurant has the potential to become a destination spot for general arts appreciators who are interested in the Milepost 5 community as well as featuring a kitchen large enough to accommodate high-volume catering.

Milepost 5, Phase II, kitchen: Large, production ready kitchen, all working, industrial strength appliances. Set up to accommodate catering as well as restaurant operations.

Phase II is scheduled for completion in late 2008. Phase I will be ready for occupancy in early March 2008. As of 1.16.08, approx. 1/3 of the ownership units are reserved.

The kitchen opens to a large, approx 1,500 square foot, dining area which is attached to an approx 120 seat performance space (the old chapel).

The Milepost 5 team is seeking that perfect entrepreneur who can both make use of the facilities and make themselves an integrated part of a unique, vital arts community.
